BORN IN STRATFORD - MADE IN LONDON
430 years ago, the young William Shakespeare left his wife and children in Stratford to start a new life in London. Rising from obscurity to superstar, he cut a swath through London society, attracting admirers, copycats, lawsuits, critics and the odd begging letter. In his early life in London, he lived in rented accommodation and got into trouble for not paying his taxes. By the end of his life, owned property in fashionable Blackfriars. In our two hour walking tour, we visit the places he lived and worked, taking in some of the most beautiful sites in the ancient/modern City of London. Along the way we meet the unfortunate Jewish doctor who inspired Shakespeare to create Shylock and visit this magnificent 16th Century hall in which his company performed.. Our tour will start and finish at a mutually agreed location in London.
JEWISH LONDON
London's Jewish history stretches back for more than a thousand years to the Norman Conquest of 1066. Our two hour walking tour takes us to sites of tragedy and triumph and includes a visit to this beautiful 18th Century synagogue where Jewish worship has continued, uninterrupted, for more than three hundred years. Royal London
Experience the tradition, history, and pageantry of Royal London. Starting in Covent Garden we make our way to Parliament Square via an atmospheric gaslit alleyway and majestic Trafalgar Square. On our journey we will view three royal Palaces, Westminster Abbey, a beautiful Royal park and the Houses of Parliament. We will experience the Changing ceremonies of the King’s mounted Life Guard and the Foot Guards with their marching band and hear stories of love, betrayal, scandal and intrigue.
